Three months have already passed by in a blur. Yet it feels like you were picking up a New Year’s resolution yesterday.
By this time, most of us would have forgotten all about the one big change that we vowed to make this year.
Time flows by if you don’t live consciously. Living the same day on repeat without a pause will burn you out faster than you realize.
It wrecks your mental health and makes you question the meaning behind every action.
But you can slow down and enjoy the changing seasons, chirping birds, and quiet sunsets.
These simple habits have helped me reevaluate my time and boost my mental health as well.
1. A walk in the park is all it takes
Creating physical distance from stressful places will help you slow down time instantly.
Take a break during the day by getting out of the office. Go downstairs to stretch your back after hours of sitting.
Walk around, make small conversation, enjoy a drink in peace. Just get out of the office to experience the outside world.
2. A screen-free zone will pause time
Sitting in front of screens from morning to night is ruining your mental health.
It’s a necessary evil, but that doesn’t mean you don’t need a break. Your brain and eyes both need a break from the screen after a few hours.
But even rest requires screens. You have to take a step back from them to actually relax.
So, have a screen-free zone in your house or office to boost performance and productivity in the long run.
3. Cook a meal once in a while, but with mindfulness
A flow state can help you slow down time, but the challenge is to find an activity that can initiate both flow and relaxation.
One such activity with high returns is cooking, you end up creating delicious meals, while enjoying the flow state and a bout of creativity.
You can enter into a flow state even while following a recipe, let alone creating something from scratch.
4. Sip your daily coffee the right way
A few daily habits can change the trajectory of your life. Even your daily cup of coffee can make all the difference.
Sip your delicious coffee while reading something. A newspaper, article, blog, or newsletter.
Make it a daily activity to add value to your life. Learning new things will help you boost creativity and discover new and better interests.
5. Divide your day into time blocks
Taking a break at your desk in between work can wreck your flow states.
So, it’s easier to schedule both rest and work in blocks.
So, find the time when you’re more productive. And book your more creative work in that block.
A simple schedule can make you slow down time easily.
In Closing
Slow down time by forming better habits that help you relax.
Follow a routine that gives you time and space to be mentally present.
Start today before it’s too late, to avoid a burnout.
